Yalbury Cottage

Yalbury Cottage is a beautiful small hotel in Lower Bockhamton Dorchester, They pride their selves in great customer service and have been awarded best small hotel guide from The Good Hotel Guide.
Jamie and Arianne run the hotel with Jamie specialising in the cooking as he is a highly experienced chef.
They asked me to produce a series of images that showed all the best aspects of the hotel for use on their website and all social media.
From exterior photography of the lovely thatched roof to interiors of the bedrooms and restaurant. They also needed shots of the staff and a family shot plus shots of different items on the menu.

With a photography session like this I always go and meet the people involved and have a good recce so that I can find the best angles to shoot from. Also I need to discuss what the client would like to highlight. In this case I knew they needed some lovely food photography and to promote the amazing afternoon teas they are doing . So we decided to make sure we had a lovey sunny day so we could shoot outside in their gardens.
The benefits of seeing the location before the shoot are many, I can work out the equipment I will need, lighting and camera. Also, what time of day to shoot for the best light. In this case I also needed to talk to the chef to work out the dishes he was going to produce and if any were likely to deteriorate with time such as ice cream !!
From the recce work out a timescale for the shoot and send it to the client to check they are ok with it.
Jamie and Arianne were very pleased with the photography and I have been back to update their pictures.
